FOUNDER & CO-DIRECTOR
Marci McCourtie, MS, CCC-SLP earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communicative Disorders, with a minor in Special Education, in 1995. She received a Master of Science degree in Communicative Disorders from San Francisco State University in 1997.
Marci works with children preschool age through 8th grade, specializing in language-based learning disabilities and providing curriculum-relevant speech and language therapy. Her professional experience includes working in the public schools as both a speech-language pathologist and Special Day Class teacher (severely handicapped and communicatively handicapped). When not working in the schools, Marci has worked in her private practice.
Marci provides consultation services to parents and guardians of children with special needs. Through her own experience as a speech-language pathologist, special education teacher, and parent, Marci can advise parents, review IEP goals/objectives, and offer suggestions on how to navigate through the sometimes exhausting IEP process.
Marci is a mother of 3 children. She has 2 sons, ages 9 and 11, and one 6 year-old daughter. She has not only had the experience of working with children of various ages who have communication disorders as a speech-language pathologist, but she has also had the experience of working with her own children, 2 of which have communication disorders.
Marci is a California state licensed and nationally certified speech-language pathologist. She holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
CO-DIRECTOR
Shannon Kong, MS, CCC-SLP earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Developmental Psychology then her Master's of Science Degree in Communicative Disorders in 1996. She has been working in private practice in San Francisco ever since, specializing in working with toddlers and preschoolers. She now owns one of the largest speech therapy offices there with 10 therapists on her team.
Shannon has worked in several school districts in the Bay Area with the preschool population as well as in classrooms designed for children with Autism. Shannon also enjoyed working as a Clinic Supervisor at SFSU throughout 2003. She works exclusively with toddlers and preschoolers specializing in working with children on the Autism Spectrum and children with Verbal Apraxia.
