Marci McCourtie, MS, CCC-SLP, founder of TheraLearn, located in San Ramon, CA earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communicative Disorders, with a minor in Special Education, in 1995. She received a Master of Science degree in Communicative Disorders from San Francisco State University in 1997.
Marci has worked in the field of communication disorders for the past 15 years. She worked in the public schools for 4 years as both a speech-language pathologist and Special Day Class teacher (severely handicapped and communicatively handicapped). She has worked in private practice ever since and works with children preschool age through 8th grade, specializing in language-based learning disabilities and providing curriculum-relevant and literature-based speech and language therapy.
Marci provides consultation services to parents and guardians of children with special needs. Through her own experience as a speech-language pathologist, special education teacher, and parent, Marci can advise parents, review IEP goals/objectives, attend IEP meetings, and offer suggestions on how to navigate through the sometimes exhausting IEP process.
Marci is a mother of 3 children. She has 2 sons, ages 10 and 12, and one 7 year-old daughter. She has not only had the experience of working with children of various ages who have communication disorders as a speech-language pathologist, but she has also had the experience of working with her own children, 2 of which have communication disorders. Marci is also in the process of writing her first book!
Marci is a California state licensed and nationally certified speech-language pathologist. She holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). She is a member of ASHA and the Council for Exceptional Children.
